Psychonauts 2 picks up where the first game left off. Raz joins a team of Psychonauts, spies who use their abilities to jump into people’s brains to uncover the truth. It seems there’s a traitor in their midst, though, and Raz sets off on a journey to find out what the traitor knows before it’s too late — too late, as in “a giant psychic monster comes to life and destroys the world.”
Raz isn’t alone on his quest. He joins up with a ball of energy voiced by Jack Black, who also sings the game’s central song in the trailer embedded above.
Psychonauts 2 takes place across multiple different psyches, which means there’s plenty of license to make the levels as quirky and outrageous as possible.
One stage sees you navigating through a world made entirely of teeth, while another is literally a stage, being part of a concert hall dripping in enough psychedelica to make Pink Floyd blush.
Raz has plenty of psychic abilities at his disposal too. He can control time, slow down objects, and even freeze enemies to make dispatching them easier.
The Psychonauts 2 release date is a vague 2021 window, but it’ll launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 whenever it does release. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Psychonauts 2 news as it develops.
