This error stems from your game thinking you and the lobby host are not running on the same patch, even if you are. Some players get it after legitimately needing to patch, but others get it at unwarranted times. Have you gotten the “Your client version is” error after trying to join the same lobby you just played in? Yeah, me too.
The one solution that seems to work is one that every Steam user should keep in mind with any game they have issues with: verifying the integrity of the game files.
Some people can force PUBG to update via restarting Steam, but if you want to go right to the source then verifying your files is the way to go. Luckily it’s easy as can be.
How to verify the integrity of your PUBG (or any game) files
Go to your Steam games library Right click on PLAYERKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Click ‘Properties’ Click the ‘Local Files’ tab Click “Verify Integrity of Game Files’
Steam will then cross-check your files with the server to ensure none of your game files are corrupted, missing, or out of date and updated as needed.
This is a simple solution to a fairly prevalent problem, and unfortunately it’s not permanent for a lot of people. If verifying your files works for you once, chances are it will work next time you’re bombarded with the “Your client version is .” error again. It would be nice if Bluehole got this desync issue sorted out, but for now this is what we have to work with.
